Notice
Pierre Bourque is a
Professor at the École de technologie
supérieure (engineering school of the Université du
Québec network of institutions) where he teaches graduate and undergraduate
software engineering courses. From 1995 to 2000, he was the Director of
Applied Research at the Software Engineering
Management Research Laboratory of the Université du Québec
à Montréal (UQAM). He received his M.Sc. in Mathematics
(Computer Science) on the topic of software measurement in 1988 from the
Université de Sherbrooke. From 1987 to 1995, he was involved in
software technology assessment, database design, software engineering,
data modeling and data administration at the National Bank of Canada.
He has published and spoken internationally on the Guide to the Software
Engineering Body of Knowledge project, software measurement, functional
size measurement, software project estimation, "fundamental principles
of software engineering", software maintenance and IT governance.
Since 1998, he is the co-editor of the Guide to the Software Engineering
Body of Knowledge project sponsored by the IEEE Computer Society and funded
by numerous industrial partners. He is an IEEE Senior Member and will
be awarded in October 2001 the Outstanding Contribution Award from the
IEEE Computer Society for "outstanding leadership and technical contributions
as co-editor of the Guide to the Software
Engineering Body of Knowledge".
